Media wall Solihull

Media Wall Installation in Solihull

A fully bespoke media wall designed and built as part of a lounge refurbishment in Solihull, combining feature lighting, integrated technology and carefully considered detailing throughout.

This bespoke media wall installation in Solihull demonstrates how integrated design and careful planning can transform a living space.

Having completed several areas of this property previously, the lounge presented an opportunity to create something more design-led while still maintaining the practical requirements of the space.

Projects are carefully scheduled to ensure the time and attention required for this level of detail is maintained throughout.

THE BRIEF

The client wanted a media wall that would act as a focal point within the room while working around existing elements, including a curved 65” television and preferred fireplace style.

There was also a requirement to incorporate:

  • Integrated lighting

  • Functional storage

  • Clean cable management

A finish that tied in with the wider home

As with previous work carried out within this Solihull property, creative freedom was given to develop a solution that would balance aesthetics with usability.

THE DESIGN APPROACH

The design centred around creating a cohesive feature wall that felt built into the room rather than added to it.

A curved backing section was introduced behind the television, allowing the design to respond to the shape of the screen while also flowing down into the three-sided fireplace below.

Slatted panelling was then shaped to follow this curve, softening the overall look and creating a more considered visual transition between elements.

Additional features included:

  • Tall anthracite radiators positioned to frame the installation

  • Replacement door frames to align with the updated finish

  • Full-room skim and decoration to ensure consistency throughout

LIGHTING & TECHNOLOGY

Lighting played a key role in the final result, both functionally and visually.

A combination of Philips Hue systems was installed, including:

  • TV backlighting with sync functionality

  • Colour-change GU10 lighting within ceiling features and niches

  • A perimeter LED strip within the ceiling light box

  • App-controlled wall lighting integrated into the wider room

This allows the entire space to shift in tone and atmosphere depending on use, from subtle ambient lighting through to a full media experience.

A smart-controlled roller blind was also installed, completing the integration of technology within the space.

DETAILING & FINISH

Attention to detail was central to the outcome of this project.

Plaster-in housing units were used to achieve a clean, recessed finish to lighting elements, avoiding visible trims and maintaining a sharp aesthetic.

Subtle additions such as integrated sockets were positioned discreetly to retain functionality without disrupting the design.

Material choices, including darker wood tones, were selected to tie in with existing features within the home, ensuring the space felt connected rather than isolated.

THE RESULT

The finished media wall delivers a strong visual focal point while remaining practical and comfortable for everyday use, elevating the space beyond a standard installation into something more considered and individual.

By combining curved detailing, integrated lighting and carefully planned functionality, the space now feels balanced, modern and tailored specifically to the property.

While every project is different, the same level of planning, attention to detail and on-site management is applied throughout, ensuring each installation is tailored to the property and how the space is used.

This project forms part of an ongoing relationship with the client, with multiple areas of the home completed over time.
