It felt nostalgic incorporating wooden panelling on this one. I'd not used it in years and it reminded me of the first bathroom I ever did, for myself, in my first property. A deep blue wood stain that was cutting edge style (at the time)
This design is far less drastic, and far more classy. A great proportion of natural blend between the marble, sage, and deep rustic floor.
Our starting point was, as they often are - tired and a sorry space. Very poor ventilation had been causing problems over the years, along with decades of fixes, have-a-go repairs and original 100-plus year-old plaster that had long served it's duty. Amongst the desirable leafy streets of Harborne in Birmingham was this room calling to have Omega install it's deserved glory and make it proud.

The owner had a picture in a magazine of the style she wanted, presenting it to me for my inspiration to design. A careful plan was pieced together setting out all the important features she liked and how it would come together.

Dominating features like stair slopes cannot really be changed and must be incorporated in the best and most tasteful way possible. The previous bath was too short and left a water-trap, flat section that we needed to avoid.
Damage to the real-wooden frames from the shower proximity was acknowledged and originally an acrylic panel idea was incorporated into the plan, but later dropped in favour of refurbishment and better paint protection. A close-coupled toilet was changed to a concealed cistern providing a nice shelf-top storage amendment.
So time to get stuck in! It was back to brick, and starting again to give the foundation the room needed to now serve it's occupants for years to come. New subfloor, new plaster throughout, all new electrics and pipework, copious waterproof tanking, and solid, caring work from the ground up. It was copious bribes of tea, cake and biscuits along the entire way! she made an absolute fuss of all the team, and was very generous allowing us space to work and store tools and fittings.
An added win for us was their love of foliage! Finished off the mood perfectly. It was a great project and always nice to realise a classic traditional style, not to mention exceed the customers vision that she had imagined for a very long time! The owners were very pleased!
